Announced: 2014 Rock Concerts in the Philippines

The year 2013 has been a great year for rockers and concert-goers in the Philippines. A lot of concerts and big names in the music scene have been here to show us how to rock 'em and to party it out all night. A few music festivals like Wanderland, Circuit Fest and Pulp Summer Slam were also held.

The cancellation of the Matchbox 20 show was a bit of a downer though. I really hope they'd come this year or in the near future. Anyway, not to be outdone, 2014 would sure bring in a lot of great rock concerts and music festivals too. In fact, just for the 1st quarter of this year, the list is already been pretty exciting. So who's who and what's what in the concert scene in the country this year? Check out below.

The 8123 Tour

The 8123 Tour is a much awaited concert for fans of The Maine, This Century and A Rocket to the Moon in the Philippines. However, it will only be Nick Santino coming to town since A Rocket To The Moon has broken up.

7107 International Music Festival

If there's something that is getting concert-goers and rock enthusiasts out there absolutely nuts, this is probably it. I mean come on, it is going to be headlined by RED HOT FUCKING CHILI PEPPERS! Shit, yourself yet? I almost did when it was announced, so I'm guessing I'm not alone. I know a lot of you folks out there have been praying for this. And now, it's finally happening! 7107 International Music Festival, ladies and gents!

This 2-day outdoor music festival is happening in Clark, Pampanga on February 22-23, 2014. There will be two stages, according to the information on 7107imf.com. Both stages will present a spectacular lineup of international and local artists.

It's too bad that I know I'm not going to be there. It's too far and I probably won't have enough cash to cover expenses and tickets. But, what makes me really happy about this music festival (aside from the fact that Anthony Fucking Keidis is setting foot on the Philippine soil) is that the organizers are doing it right. Just read the following reminders on their page:
"Scalpers are not tolerated."

"Don’t even try to resell your passes as these will be invalidated."
Finally, a concert/music festival where scalpers have no power. :D

Pulp Summer Slam 14

Well, this one's not included in the 1st quarter list since it's happening in April. But, it deserves to be mentioned because HATEBREED, that's why! Although, this year's Pulp Summer Slam will be headlined by Bullet for My Valentine and Asking Alexandria (which left hardcore metal fans seething and arguing about the gayness of them). I for one, don't care who's headlining. I mean, guys, chill up. I'm sure everybody's still going to have a great time and will be out of voice (and wits) at the end (or in this case, start) of the day.

This year's Summer Slam is entitled Children of the Damned and will also feature melodic death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder, Kreator, Death Angel and Crossfaith. Local line up is yet to be announced but I'm sure you'll get plenty of Arci Munoz and her band Philia.
