Jimmie Johnson Bagged 7th Win at Dover

"Green, Green, Green."

And so the FedEx 400 race begun last Sunday, June 3 at the Dover International Speedway (popularly known as the Monster Mile). Mark Martin was leading the fields to the green, of course, since he has the pole. But, even at Turn 1, you can see Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, taking the lead from Martin. It's all adrenaline from hereon.

Greg Biffle, current leader in the Overall Standings, got loose. If we can only hear him on the radio scanners, we'll probably hear him say,

"She's loose like I'm on skates when I take it out into a corner."

But, it's all good since he was even able to pass Kevin Harvick to place 7th. And then, several seconds after, a pile up at the treacherous Turn 2 happened. You can hear the collective groan from race fans. Why not? There's Tony Stewart, Landon Cassill, Michael McDowell and Joe Nemecheck among others in that wreck. Later on, Juan Pablo Montoya got caught in the carnage as well. It was a self-cleaning road and once a car slips, all hell is going to break loose. And that's what happened. The race got red-flagged.

Going back to the race, Martin got the lead back at Lap 12. However, Johnson took the lead again at Lap 30. He must have got a "Clear high" from his spotter because he suddenly changed lane and - boom! He's in the lead. It was obvious that Johnson got a good car. Man, he was fast!

Meanwhile, during one of Ryan Newman's pit stops, he almost run through Clint Bowyer's pit crew when he was exiting his pit stall. Why were the pit stalls so close to each other anyway? Accidents are bound to happen with tight spaces like those!

At Lap 86, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Jeff Gordon battled for the 3rd place - which eventually went to Matt Kenseth of the No. 17 Ford. Kevin Harvick finished 2nd and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 4th place. Clint Bowyer is on the 5th place and Kasey Kahne finished to clinched the 9th position. Mark Martin finished 14th place. See the full results here.

Most cars involved in the 13-car wreck (the largest of the season) early on were able to get back on the race. Montoya, No. 42 Chevrolet, finished 28th and Tony Stewart finished 25th. Nemechek and McDowell weren't lucky enough. But, we've seen some more bad luck going down as several cars got engine failures and Carl Edwards busted a tire (and almost hit the wall).

After the 400th (and last) Lap, Jimmie Johnson got his 7th Dover win and his 57th win at the Sprint Cup Series. This is also his 24th Top Ten finish.

When the checkered flag was taken, Jimmie Johnson and pit crew posed in the Victory Lane and celebrated the win with, what else, popping champagne of course! Most notably, he was wearing a colored Afro wig! Should I mention that both driver and crew chief are both good looking? Too bad, both of them are taken. Right, girls?
